My last post told about how my family had been chosen as one of the families representing Michigan Dairy Farmers in Kroger stores this summer. Recently, we had our photo shoot and I’m going to share some of the behind the scenes experience. If you’re lucky enough to live near a Kroger store the heifers you will see in the background are from my family’s farm. There will be 4 farm families featured in the promotional materials as well.
The majority of the heifers on our farm are out in pastures, which was the perfect background for the photo. It was an early morning, but the heifers were ready for the their close up!
This pasture was a little too eager for their close up. Back up girls! They want you to eat grass and look pristine. Apparently, they didn’t get the memo. Lucky for us, the other pasture wasn’t as entertained by us standing there.
Here’s the photographer getting pictures in the back pasture. After he finished he was so excited about how the position of the sun, the dew on the grass and his polarizing lens is going to make the picture phenomenal. Lucky for me I’m a wanna-be photographer so I got the general idea.
While the heifers were in the spotlight, my family and I were hanging out. There were lots of cowboy boots and cow paraphernalia around. We wouldn’t be farmers without it!
After the heifers had their hour in the spotlight, it was my family’s turn. I didn’t get any pictures of that, so we will all wait until the ads are released in the stores. There are four Michigan farm families featured in the ad and it is expected to be released in the middle of May. Watch out for the Messing Family in your local Kroger store! If you don’t have a Kroger nearby, don’t worry. I will be making a trip to Kroger and collecting the ads from the newspapers we were featured in.
