To continue in the spirit I started at the end of last week. I have a few confessions to make.
I confess that I have a formal dress with a cow manure stain. Every time I see the little brown stain on my favorite peach dress, I get aggravated. Not only because a nice dress has a stain, but also because the cow that gave it to me, was from my least favorite breed. I just happened to be walking through the barn to a National Jersey Queen event at the wrong time.
I confess that I have walked through a barn in high heels and a dress with a train to look at the cattle. Don’t worry, I carried the train so it didn’t get dirty. I walked through the dairy barn looking at my cow’s competition because the next day was going to be the show. I told you I was still a farm girl, even if I like dressing up.
The final confession I will share with you today, although there are many more I could bring up; is that I have had toes colored green from walking in sawdust in 3 inch heels. No matter where I’m walking, the shoes are important. Some of the women reading this would understand. Cow pies or not, cute shoes are an essential, and the dye in the sawdust at a show is something that just happens.
All of the memories that these confessions bring to mind make the stained dresses and feet worth it. They are all just casualties along the road. Sharing the passion I feel for an industry is something I wouldn’t trade for a new dress and clean feet.
