I’m not exactly the cheapest person in the world, but when it comes to a few things I will use them until I can’t anymore. I am a shoeaholic but shoes are one of those things I will use until they’re no longer useable. My work shoes are no exception to this and it’s not usually a good thing. Like any other job that involves being on your feet all day, farming involves going through a lot of work shoes.
Because of this I will wear my work boots as long as I can. There might be soles falling off, but it doesn’t matter because I still wear them.
A perfect example is my rubber boots. This inch and a half gash in the side has been growing bigger and bigger over the last 2 months. But I figured if I was careful I could still wear them for a while. This logic doesn’t always work well and sadly, my socks are paying for it! I’ve had to designate “good” socks that don’t get worn out in the barn.
Don’t worry! This big dirty spot doesn’t have any cow manure in it, it’s all from the mud puddles while feeding calves this morning. Sadly, I’m going to have to suck it up and buy a new pair of boots because not the left boot has a hole in it.

LOL…you are definately not the only one to do that! I have barn shoes (some of which are rubberized flip flops because I got sick of buying new socks!) and even seperate barn “stuff” in general. Pants, hats, shirts (most of which are all severally stained and very smelly) are in that mix…I have pants with holes so big now you could say that they are shorts with long cuffs 🙂 It’s a terrible habit of keeping “old” things that are worn out…but nothing fits like they do!

Oh yes, we have all the barn doubles. I have a pair of the exact same jeans because I love them so much, one is the barn pair and one is the good pair lol. Thank you so much for reading and commenting so much. 🙂

This post cracked me up. My husband was wearing a pair of boots with holes in them around the dairy too. His socks were FILTHY at the end of the day! We go through a lot of socks in our house. 🙂

I think going through a lot of socks is another occupational hazard! I know as a woman, I should know better than to walk around in boots with holes but I couldn’t help but do it. Thank you so much for the comment Jessica!

I thought that kind of thing only went on at our farm 🙂 We also have “good” socks and “work” socks. Hope you can find time for boot shopping soon!

Oh no, this doesn’t just happen on your farm. Thank you, I hope I can find some time for boot shopping too and thank you for the read and the comment.
