Last year around this time I attended the first ever AgChat Founation Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Although I couldn’t make the trip for the 2nd conference one of my friends from last year’s conference helped me out and shared her views on the meetings. I owe a big thanks to Danielle Hammer. Make sure to check her out on her blog The Confessions of a Corn Heiress and Twitter.
Another #ACFC11 has come and gone just like my twitter stream, tips, tricks, information, photos, it all comes so fast and if you’re not refreshing the screen, you’re going to miss something! I was hesitant at first when I arrived in Nashville for the Ag Chat Foundation 2nd annual conference, I’ll admit I wasn’t sure if it would be a repeat of last year’s or if there would be new information. I’ll also admit that I went for the social networking, not the kind you do virtually from an electronic device such as my iPhone, iPad or PC.
I absorbed everything like a sponge, and well I absorbed a lot of beer too. Instead of fine tuning my twitter skills by learning to create lists, I became the brunt of a twit pic joke when I fell asleep during the session. I can and do on a daily basis, make fun of myself so to be quite honest, I was honored when Jeff Fowle posted it on twitter. Even if my mom after seeing it told me,
”Don’t fall asleep in the airport like you did on twitter!”.
I had questioned why I purchased an iPad until I was introduced to Hoot Suite, which I LOVE and was not sure how I could expand and take advantage of my urlhttp://thecornheiress.com until Janice taught me how to link it to here…my blog Confessions of a Corn Heiress. And then on the plane ride home, I shared photos of my farm and my story with a fellow passenger who’s husband was the former editor of the Progressive Farmer magazine. She asked for my card in order to share my story with her husband or pass it along.
We are all connected in agriculture, we share a common passion and no matter what type of tools we use to share our stories the important part is that we share.
The AgChat Foundation has provided me with countless “Ah-Ha” moments while agvocating through social media or while just living my daily life. I am grateful for the connections I have made through this program and only hope that it continues to grow stronger.
