Whew, this summer has been a busy one. It seems like we finish with one project and then another one starts. One of our more recent projects has been baling dry hay. We bale the hay to feed our cows and heifers during the winter.
Have you ever wondered how we get those fields full of bales? Check out this video, you can see where the baler is picking up the hay, wrapping the bale with a plastic wrap and the pushing it out to start all over again!
Sorry about not having the video embedded, but I seem to be having problems with it. You can check out the video here.

This year has been a tough year around here for hay…either too much rain and the fields are too wet or no rain and the alfalfa doesn’t grow! BUT we did manage to get in a record number of bales already and still have some good looking fourth cutting to do if the weather gets around to cooperating!

We had a tough time as well, 4th cutting was the only one we were able make dry hay with but it was great quality all the same. The hay actually got too dry and the leaves were pretty much broke off. We had a record harvest as well which we can’t complain about 🙂
