Well, we are 8 days into the new year and I still can’t remember to write 2013 on my checks. Maybe in two weeks I will have it.
This is the time of the year for resolutions, we all think about them. We talk about them and then we fall off the wagon one at a time. I know, I know, I am such a romantic. Honestly, I’m not very disciplined so usually I don’t make one. But this year is different, I made a resolution and so far, I am doing well. Which is a miracle in itself!
I decided to make getting my life organized my resolution. So far, I am doing really well. Between buying into the farm, getting married and moving in together my life has been scattered to say the least. I’m taking it one task at a time and I am working to get everything organized!
If getting organized is a goal of yours I’m going to give you a few tips. 1) Do not expect to be able to do this in a day by yourself. Honestly, doing this and setting it up in a way you will use and like takes serious time. 2) Do it one step at a time. If you’re anything like me it’s easy for your to get bored with a project and start another one. But do not do that, finish a project first. It will be so worth it when you finish one part because you will feel accomplished and motivated to go onto the next one.
I’m gong to share the journey of my organizing. The first step that I got done is one of my favorites! It was to make my year long meal planner. That’s right, A YEAR! Believe me, it is a lot of work but totally worth it. I love I don’t have to think about what I’m going to make. It makes grocery shopping so easy, I don’t wander around the grocery store aimlessly. Each Tuesday I pull out my recipes for the week and then I figure out what I need and what I have.
I did not do my meal planner on my own, I’m not superwoman. Besides, there are a lot of great people who have done all of the work for us. I’m going to share two of my favorites.
The first one is the one I used. I really liked this setup and honestly, it was the first one I had found that I really liked. I got the planner from boldTurquoise and this lady is great! She also has links in this post that will help you to set up your meal planner.
The second Menu Planner I just managed to find on Pinterest. I think this is also a great option should you choose to use it. CleanMama has set up a wonderful menu planner that you can purchase here on their Etsy store.
My next organizing post will be about organizing our finances and paperwork!
