My friend Jenny just got married a few weeks ago and she is a fellow blogger. Her wedding was stunning, you can check it out here. She just made a blog post about the 10 Ways Marrying a Farmer Will Change Your Life. Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary. Yup, it’s been a year since the hubby and I got married. Crazy to think it’s been that long!
So I decided to make a play off that blog post and do it from more from our point of view! My poor husband is a saint for putting up with me for this long and I love him for it. After all, he did sign up for a life of this.
1. You will spend the majority of anniversaries by yourself more than together. Yesterday was our anniversary and I still went out to the barn to work. Don’t get my wrong, we did spend some time together. But the cows had a lot of my time too.
2. There will always be issues making plans with set times. No one will be able to predict when there will be a difficult calving. When the electricity will go out. When the robots will call. Anything can happen and could make that early dinner with friends hard to make.
3. You might not feel like you are number one; but believe us, you are number one. When we go out and work every day and don’t get days off, it’s not because we don’t love you.
4. You will be get asked to help with jobs on the farm. I’m not going to lie, my husband is a manager on a dairy farm. I am lucky because when I need help with a job I know I can count on him. He is my rock when things go wrong on the farm and he understands what I am talking about.
5. Don’t ever plan on getting a home cooked meal or eating at the same time each night. When things get busy on the farm or things just go wrong all day long, dinner probably isn’t going to happen. Honestly, at that point I’m lucky if I fed myself something other than granola bars all day.
I love my husband dearly for putting up with all of my crap. He is my rock and my support system and I don’t know where I would be without him.

The morning after I got married, I woke up to an empty bed, my husband was back out milking, even though he said he’d take the day off. LOL I got so mad. Good thing we both love cows, we have just worked it out to hang out together out of doors. 🙂

That’s probably a good thing! My husband does come out and visit me in the barn or help me out often. It is a good thing when you both love cows. It’s difficult when one understands and the other doesn’t.

Putting up w/ you for this long….1 year…oh you are funny!! Somehow, 1 year turns into 25 before you even know it! Enjoy!

Oh I know Bev. Honestly, I was going to order us a little cake for our anniversary since we didn’t freeze the top layer of our cake. But suddenly it dawned on me that it was a week away and it was too late for that. This year has honestly flown by 🙂
