I mention our house remodel quite a bit and how we are doing a lot of Home DIY work. One of our projects was remodeling the bedroom my husband and I use.
This project took quite a while but it was totally worth the wait! The room before had classic 1970s blue carpet and matching blue wood paneling. It was beautiful, but we decided to remodel the room anyway.
The room’s color scheme is grey, blue with a hint of yellow as you will see in the rug below. Of course this was the perfect place to hang my Bonnie Mohr print entitled “She’s Got the Look”
I am still perfecting my photography of rooms with different lighting. But this rug was a steal off of Zulily, you read more about how amazing Zulily is here! This rug has light grey, a blue grey and a mustard yellow color. It really does pull the room together.
Of course we need a chandelier in the room. Not only does it give a nice light off, it sparkles some too! I love it and it was free because it is a leftover wedding decoration from my sister-in-law’s wedding. I call that winning.
The dresser is used as a TV stand. We found this dresser at an old house we acquired with some farmland my parents recently bought. It fits in beautifully with the room and is in wonderful condition.
In the corner of the headboard we have an Ikea lamp, an Ikea candle holder and a silver frame that was a wedding gift. Simple but it is eye appealing.
I know this photo is crooked, but I wanted to show the headboard more. It is made completely of pallet board and is rough cut. It is stained the same color as the floor. The headboard is custom made to fit the corner of our room and has a little shelf to hold our phone chargers and other little things. This is a very handy piece of furniture.
These are the original hardwood floors in the house. We estimate they are 80 or more years old. We simply stripped them, stained and varnished them. They look great and are in wonderful condition. These floors also get harder as time goes on. Sadly these floors are only left going up the stairs and in the upstairs hallway and bedrooms. They were removed or destroyed in the 1970s remodel in the first floor. You will see in my office what we decided to do for the first level floors.

Did you make this corner headboard or is this a custom made from a company or woodworker? I have been looking for one of these. Please let me know. We have very limited space in our guest room and this would be perfect.

Great question! We actually made it ourselves to fit our corner. We used pallet wood we had collected as our material.

I love this! That light is awesome. We have been working on getting our bedroom in shape. We are a long way from having it completed but as you saw we’ve got a new headboard!

Yes, I did see your new headboard! It is so cute and looks great. It took us a long time to get the bedroom done, but it was totally worth it. Honestly, it’s not totally done yet. I still have a few things to hang on the walls and some little projects to do. 🙂
