Messy Kennedy

Around here life is crazy, messy and we love every minute!

Yes, Even Farmers can Get Away: Chicago

If you follow the Facebook page you will know that The Hubby and I got away this past weekend. It doesn’t happen often because of the work on the farm. On Friday we headed to Chicago to visit my younger sister who lives there and works for Kraft.

Of course a trip to Sephora and the MAC counter were on the schedule. Don’t worry, I will have some product reviews over the next few weeks talking about what I found.  I am pretty excited to share my finds with all of you!

But today I want to share some of the fun things we did in Chicago!

By far, the best thing we did was the river architectural tour. We got to tour the entire downtown area from the river.  It was informative, giving us a lot of information and history about the buildings and bridges in Chicago. It gave us a wonderful perspective to see everything in the city. If you ever end up in Chicago I highly recommend this tour. It is also affordable compared to a lot of other tours at about $35 a person.

Chicago is an awesome place for foodies too!  The place I was most excited about was visiting Sprinkles cupcakes. If you watch the Food Network show called Cupcake Wars you will know one of the judges named Candace Nelson. She was the founder of the first cupcake bakery in the world and that is where Sprinkles was started.

Walking up to the bakery it is hard to miss because of the decor on the outside (the lower left photo). The bakery also has the first Cupcake ATM, which is how I decided to buy my cupcake. You follow on the on-screen directions and choose which flavor cupcake you want. Then it comes out of the dispensary and you have your delicious gourmet cupcake. Naturally, I picked the Red Velvet cupcake with a Cream Cheese Frosting and it was to die for!

If you are looking for a great weekend away or even a family vacation where you have a lot to do, I would absolutely recommend Chicago.  There is so much to do that everyone can find something they really like!
