This weekend, in between getting the new site looking better and refreshed (by the way, what do you think?!) we were working on some small projects around the house. One of the projects is an upcycled door that I am so excited about. It is totally Junk Gypsies material!
A lot of the “new” items in our house are actually salvaged from an old house we went through a few years ago. And this beautiful, wonderful, junkie door is one of them.
Enter the door.
The door is not pretty.
The door is rusty.
The door has paint peeling.
The door is old.
But the door looks so awesome in our very clean, modern closet.
We took the door off of an old chicken coop that had been empty for at least a decade. My mother in law saw the potential in it and here we are today. We did not do any physical changes other than one small one to the door knob and taking a few inches off of the bottom so it would fit on the wall.
Being able to hang everything where I can see it is amazing. It all looks to pretty against the rustic look of the door.
The hangers were like $3 for 10 of them from Ikea in the kitchen section. They’re actually meant to hang kitchen utensils but they make great hangers on the door.
The door had a latch on it and that works great for really long necklaces!
I decided to use the door handle to hold my headbands.
This is my favorite part of the new closet additions.
Honestly, who doesn’t need a quote in their closet? It is the perfect reminder to my husband each time I bring a new pair of shoes home. I am simply looking for the perfect pair of shoes to conquer the world with! 🙂
