In the midst of our house project we did this small bathroom remodel. It is often over looked but I absolutely love the details of the bathroom. It is small but very full of character. We recycled a lot of pieces for this room and purchased things on the cheap.
This is my favorite part of the bathroom. My mother in law found this dresser and mirror for less than $100, if my stretched memory serves me I think it was $30. We luckily didn’t have to cut it down because it fit almost perfectly in the room. We simply put a few extra coats of varnish on the counter and so far it has held up great and is easy to clean. The sink came from Overstock and I think the vessel sink looks gorgeous with the vintage feel of the dresser.
Ignore my barn clothes in the picture. With the room being that small I couldn’t avoid getting myself in the picture if I wanted a good picture of the mirror. The mirror came with the dresser. We detached it and only had to replace the pane, otherwise it was left exactly as it was and mounted to the wall. It really brings out the charm of the dresser I think.
I decided on a beige and coral color scheme for this room. Naturally, this was the perfect place to hang my Magenta Peonies Giclee by Bonnie Mohr. It fits in perfectly with the coral that are in the towels.
These boxes were the perfect way to display these little things in this small bathroom. They were salvaged from the neighbor’s house that we bought a few years ago. One is a tool organizer and the other two are food storage containers from plants way back in the day. They add to the vintage charm of this room. I just added a whole bunch of little mementos from mine and my husband’s life. Including my true type jersey cow. Anyone that knows how expensive they are knows that they probably don’t belong in a bathroom, but it fit perfectly in that box so there it sits to be admired while going to the bathroom.
I didn’t really want wood in my bathroom. It just felt wrong. I was mostly worried about water ruining it. So, we laid ceramic tile that looks like wood. You can see how it butts up against our real wood flooring. I think they really compliment each other.
Of course, how could we forget that sliding door. We actually used a vintage 6 panel door that we then hung on a barn track from TSC. When I use those two things in one sentence I feel like I am doing the gorgeous door a disservice. This door is not one of the originals in the house, it was bought from an antique store, but the majority of the doors in the house are leftover from when our house was originally built.
I want to know what is your favorite part of the bathroom? Just because a bathroom is small does not mean it has to lack character and beauty. I think this bathroom shows exactly that.

Great post! I loved how you turned the old dresser into a vanity. I chose you as one of my favorite posts from the April Country Fair Blog Party. Hope you sign up again for May’s Celebration blog hop. http://www.cornbeanspigskids.com/2015/05/country-fair-blog-party-celebrations.html

I love everything you’ve blogged about in your house and this bathroom is no different! I really want to do a dresser vanity in our master bath and I’m on the hunt for the right one!

I can’t wait to see what you come up with. It is so affordable and has this amazing charm that you cannot get anywhere else. It is also so useful with the storage it has.

Thanks for sharing! I’m thinking of redoing a small bathroom as well and looking into that same ceramic tile. Watched a “This Old House” episode this weekend that used a dresser for the sink as well and love the idea. Now to search for the right combination…

Yes, the right combination is the key. It takes a little while. I really love the ceramic tile and we are planning to use it in our entryway too.
