A home remodel is expensive. When my husband and I were getting ready to dive into our project we did a rough estimate of how much we thought it was going to cost and then we added some more. That is how much we saved. Definitely not scientific or exact. Needless to say, we were off. By quite a bit. Honestly, unforeseen expenses always come up and that makes it so hard to plan for these projects. Especially when your unforeseen expense is the most expensive part of the remodel (brand new cabinets). Extra costs always come up which makes planning that much more essential.
Today I have an exciting new tool to help you in your home remodel planning. My friends at Choice Home Warranty put together a great list of anything you might want or need to remodel or replace in your home. They cover everything from the roof to appliances. Keep in mind, these are estimates and if you pick the most expensive materials you very well could go over the budget. Just because you have champagne taste on a beer budget does not mean it is the estimators fault. In all honesty, I wish we would have had this when we were planning for our project. In the future I plan to refer to this often!
