The past couple weeks I have been pretty quiet. I apologize and there is a reason. We were actually busy getting ready to host a group of local young farmers. Our local Farm Bureau asked us if we would like to host an open house this summer. Naturally, we said yes because we are crazy and never say no to things like this. So, the planning for Friday Night on the Farm began.
The past few weeks have included a lot of cleaning up around the farm. Taking care of the weed jungle that sprouted up during all the rain we got this spring. All of the piles that are leftover from our projects around the farm. While that was happening a lot of my extra jobs around the farm got neglected. Which means we are now trying to catch up on office stuff, continue my regular jobs on the farm and my off farm activities.
Which brings us to this blog being neglected. I promise I have lots of new stuff coming up! I honestly have so many ideas that I am scheduling myself into September. That being said, I hope I can stick to it and don’t have anymore distractions! I wanted to share with you some pictures from our open house. Thank you Matthew Reibling for some of the pictures I am posting. You did a great job as a tour photographer.
Lots of cars and lots of people! We had a great time and are so thankful for everyone that came.
Lots of people in a small robot room learning all about milking cows robotically.
Out in the barn, my dad, talking about how we take care of our cows.
Dinner! Which means good food and lots of networking.
Overall the Friday Night on the Farm was a hit. The dinner was great (thanks to Phil for picking most of the food up, my mom for baking desserts and my husband for grilling his butt off). Even thought it was a cool night for the end of June, we had a great time and a great turnout!

Friday night on the farm was awesome! Well planned and well done. It was great to take the tour, have some good eats, and visit with other local producers in the area.

I just found your blogs and website. I love them! I to am a farmers wife and business owner of my own. We have lely robots so I know exactly what you mean when you have been busy and doing tours. We have had ours for a year now and we still are doing tours. I love the blog about “identity” as I struggle with that as well. Being a business owner and knowing all I do about the farm people will look at me like I am lying to them. Ugggg. thanks for sharing and letting us all in and know that it’s “not just me”.
Have a great day and weekend!

You are so welcome Kali and welcome to my blog! It just amazes me how people we have to be one or the other. No way! I’m all about breaking rules 😉

This is awesome! I know it can be daunting to host people on your farm, but thanks for doing it.

It really is daunting, but the day turned out great! The only thing we would have wanted was to have it be a little warmer. A northeast wind made it chilly.
