A few months ago I did a post about the products I found most useful with our newborn. I enjoyed sharing the things I used and loved as a mom. I thought I would do a new post about it ever 3 months. Believe me, things change so quickly during this first year. So here I am writing the next installment of our favorite and most useful baby products. I have no idea how we got to have a 6 month old already. And now I sound like that cliche parent.
When we had Calli I looked at all of those cute colorful toys and figured there was no way she would play with Sophie with all of these other toys. But Sophie is all the rage, so we registered for one. When she turned 3 months old and her teeth started moving. Her and Sophie became bbeasties. She always has it in her hand and we can’t go anywhere without it. A mom bonus is Sophie is a small, light toy which means she doesn’t take up much space in a diaper bag, car or just to put away in the house.
Our Sophie actually had a manufacturers defect and the company was awesome about replacing her. All the way around, Sophie la Girafe is a great toy to have around.
To continue on the toy trend, these balls are great. So men gave them to us at our shower and I love that person. These balls are light and perfect for little fingers to grip into. They’re soft enough that they don’t hurt when she bonks herself on the head. And the rattles are stimulating.
I first heard about the Sit and Play in a mom group. In a pinch we decided to buy one and since it was only $30 we figured we wouldn’t be out much if she didn’t like it. Calli ended up loving it and so do we. The seat folds up flat so it is easy to put away or fit into a full car. Calli always disliked laying on her back or being too reclined. She has always loved sitting up and the Sit and Play has a high back on it for babies that don’t have great head carriage yet. Now that she’s almost sitting on her own and crawling I still use it. I love putting her in it when I’m home alone and have to get ready to go somewhere. I just put her in it and she plays while I do my hair and put my makeup on.
As a first time parent there is a lot you don’t understand about babies. I’m sure even after a few babies there is a ton I won’t know. You need all of the help you can get and that is where the Wonder Weeks App comes into play. The app tells you about the developmental leaps your baby goes through and when she is most likely to do it. The app also shares what she is learning and developing, what her symptoms might be and how long it could last. For Calli this app has helped a ton and it has been fun following along and seeing her develop. This saved my sanity during those weeks where Calli was crabby for no reason. The affiliate link is for the book, which is the companion for the app and it actually has more information than the app does.
