I have no idea what it is about ovaries, but it brings out the jealousy and cattiness in us. As a women, bloggers, a moms and/or women in agriculture, we need to stop this habit of cutting other women down when they become successful. I fully realize when we start a blog on the interwebs we open ourselves up to negativity. But it doesn’t mean when one of us become successful we need to make her pay for it. For too long other groups have done that for us, why do we need to pick up the hatchet?
I know, that jealousy monster is a real bitch. I sometimes let it get the best of me too. But I work really hard to push that out of my mind. I’ve realized that I’m usually genuinely happy to see someone succeed like what I want to do! Yes I’m kind of sad it wasn’t me, so I keep on working. Do not unfriend her, do not say she is self promoting. No. Just no!
And about that thing self promotion. For so many years we were told to always be in the background. For years we have let others take the credit for the hard work we have done. We thought it was bad to promote ourselves. Success and taking advantage of success is not self promotion. On top of that, there is nothing wrong with a woman saying, “Yes, I did that!” Why don’t you ask her if she will feature one of your blogs or let you guest post instead of sitting there thinking she is self promoting.
For decades women have been the behind the scenes leaders on so many things. Now it is our turn to take advantage and step into the lime light. But it is not ok for other women to make her feel bad about it. I want to see women lift each other up, not tear each other down. It’s crazy how after a while you just might genuinely be happy for them.
