Everyone has one of those days. The one where nothing can go right. The days where it seems the world is against. Being a FarmHer and having one of those days means a whole new level of The Mondays. 1. You start pulling things out of your bra that any normal human should never find in there. Whether they are ancient and mummified or you accidentally dropped something down there, this happens more than it should. 2. The mud magically swallowed your boot and your momentum makes you step in the mud. Nothing better than debating whether to limp… Read More
Finding my Purpose in Life
I wouldn’t say I am lost. There are so many amazing things in my life. I love my job. I love my cows and our dogs. I have the husband I was meant to be with and love him dearly. I love my family. I have a beautiful roof over me head. I have the best friends a girl could ask for whether they are virtual or in real life. I have zero complaints about my life, but have you ever had that deep down unsettled feeling? That one that you can’t really explain or understand but it is just… Read More
Small Bathroom Remodel with Big Character
In the midst of our house project we did this small bathroom remodel. It is often over looked but I absolutely love the details of the bathroom. It is small but very full of character. We recycled a lot of pieces for this room and purchased things on the cheap. This is my favorite part of the bathroom. My mother in law found this dresser and mirror for less than $100, if my stretched memory serves me I think it was $30. We luckily didn’t have to cut it down because it fit almost perfectly in the room. We simply put… Read More
Beef and Biscuit Casserole
I am always on the search for a new recipe, especially a casserole that I can make ahead and leave in the fridge until I want to make it. This recipe I would say is a creation of mine. I got the inspiration from a Better Homes and Gardens Recipe but I changed it…. A lot and I wouldn’t even consider it the same recipe. Especially because the original one was the light recipe. When you read the ingredients you will realize this is not a particularly light recipe. My favorite casseroles are ones that incorporate veggies, protein and carbs… Read More
Girls Weekend in Chicago
I have been pretty quiet on my Facebook Page and here because I am catching up from my weekend in Chicago. Confession time: I wasn’t a good blogger and had something ready to go. So, here we are, a day late and a dollar short. This past weekend I went to Chicago with some of my friends from college. This city is fun and perfect for a quick weekend away. After visiting a few times I am by no means an expert but I want to share my favorite things to do in Chicago. 1. River Boat Tour Every… Read More
Robotic Calf Feeder Video
Today I am sharing some of our newest technology on the farm. I have mentioned on my Facebook page about our new calf barn several times and I also said it was a robotic calf feeder barn. Well, I made a video to teach you all about how it works and how our new barn cares for our calves. We worked very hard to make sure we built the best barn possible for the happiness and health of our new calves.
5 Things I Love for Spring
It is that time of the year again, where seasons change and we come into spring. Spring is one of my favorite time because it means we are leaving winter behind and coming into the heat and sun of summer. I love summer. I am a hot weather person. Sorry, but I think winter is for the birds so it’s amazing I even live in a place as cold as Michigan. Here are my 5 Things I love, Spring Edition. Just to be transparent, a few of these links go to my affiliate account. If you do choose to… Read More
My Story: A Little Girl with Big Dreams
It has been a while since I shared my background and with it being National Agriculture Week I thought this would be a great time to share it. I worry a lot that I might not come across as genuine in my blog. I work very hard to be who I am, which is very relative to how I feel that day. But today I wanted to share with you why I farm and why I love the farm. To be honest with you, it is not always a fun job. There are days why I wonder what in the… Read More
