I will admit I am not the best example of a healthy lifestyle. I am slender even though I do not regularly work out (my job takes care of organized exercise). I eat a lot of refined sugar, probably way more than I should. My candy stash isn’t exactly good for my health. But, I like my vegetables and making good healthy homemade meals. There are a lot of misconceptions about what exactly is healthy food and cooking. Today I am feeling inspired by this idea, so I thought I would share my opinion. Really, eating healthy is not organic… Read More
I Heart Robots
My husband should probably be jealous. But I think he loves the robots too although he probably won’t admit it. They had allowed us to start going out and enjoying ourselves like the twenty-somethings that we are. You might ask, how is it that they make our lives easier. One of my favorite characteristics of milk robots is that they are open to milk cows 24 hours a day! It’s like a 24 hour diner, they area always open for the cow to come in and get some pellets to eat and be milked. She can choose her own schedule…. Read More
Home Improvement, Tim the Toolman Style
My husband and I moved into the house I was raised in after we got married. When I say it is an old farmhouse I meant it. No joke. I’m seriously not laughing. The last time this house has been update was in the 70’s when my grandparents remodeled it. My parents had always planned on building a home so the remodeling got left to The Hubby and I. For those of you old enough to remember the 90’s show “Home Improvement”, what can I say. We watched it religiously. And then we watched the reruns religiously. My Dad loved… Read More
Progress Around the Farm
Well, I promised to share a post today about our big farm project. We are well into getting ready for the robots to be delivered and we hope they will be dropped off soon. But until then I want to share some of the progress we have made since building started. These are two of the before photos for the barn. These are showing the areas that the robots will be going. We will have two sets of two robots in the areas. Even the Lely guys helped with cement!! As you can see there’s been a lot of progress… Read More
An Everyday Farmer
I promise, I have a real post coming tomorrow. But for today I have a video to share. This comes from a group from the United Kingdom. Let me tell you, I love the U.K. It’s been far too long since I’ve visited so if someone wants to send more a visit I will gladly accept. If you want to learn more about farming in the U.K. www.thisisdairyfarming.com is a wonderful reference! I have checked it out and it’s a wonderful resource.
Dairy Innovation with Technology
Today, the farm is living up to the name I have on the blog. I like to think I grew up on an innovative farm, with parents who liked to push the envelope and think uniquely about challenges. Two weeks ago when we started our newest project I think we have really pushed the envelope. I am so excited to share this news with all of you. We have started renovating the farm to get ready for our milking robots! That’s right, in a few months we will be shutting the power off to our parlor forever and robots will… Read More
Decluttering at It’s Best
Let’s face it, we all have this problem. What do you do with all of those warranties and information books on products, appliances, electronics, blah blah blah. Although you don’t use them often at all, they come in extremely handy when you need them. Nothing is more annoying than when you cannot remember where you put that warranty information.
So God Made a Farmer
I did not watch the Superbowl. I know, I am a heartless person. The only reason why I am sad I did not is because I missed this commercial. When I watched it today it brought tears to my eyes. I am sorry if you follow several different agriculture blogs because I am positive we have all posted this. But I had to share because it is so true. We do this job because we love it. The hours are not easy, the work is hard but we love carrying on this tradition. I hope you enjoy the video as much as… Read More
