I’m going to be talking about my wedding a lot and I just realized you probably have no idea how I met my fiance, Eric! Before I get into my experiences of planning my wedding, I’m going to tell you the story of how we met.
Holy Hotness Batman
This article that I wrote was written initially for the Michigan Agriculture Council’s Farm Fresh Food Blog. It was posted the last week in July, but I loved it and wanted to share it so much with you. Enjoy and make sure you check out the Farm Fresh Food Blog! I don’t think anyone has missed the fact that it’s been a hot July. When I said that there isn’t anyone that missed the heat, I am talking about cows too. Believe me, they haven’t missed the heat and humidity either. Sadly, I can’t give all my cows air conditioning even though… Read More
Wordless Wednesday Full of W’s
Today I have a Wordless Wednesday that involves another “W”. Can you guess what it is? It’s wheat! My family and I grow wheat as a cash crop, but it also serves another purpose. The seed is the only part of the plant the combine harvests, but we take the rest of the plant (called straw) and use it to bed our animals. It keeps their pens dry and comfy! Take a look at the harvest.
Wedding Fever: Yes, I’ve Gotten It
We all know I’ve been neglecting my blog lately. I won’t lie to you, I’ve gotten bit by the wedding bug. I know, I know but it’s just so darn much fun! My poor fiance maybe regretting his decision, but hey it’s too late for him now. We are working diligently to make sure all the important details worked out and then over the winter we will get most of the planning done. I’ve always said my blog is about what’s going on in my life. I’m sorry to all you gentlemen, but I’m going to start giving fun wedding… Read More
Wordless Wednesday: Birds Galore
This year on the farm we have had the year of birds! Seriously, they are everywhere. They dodge at my cat in retaliation for her trying to eat one of them. They have nests every barn, they pick through the cow feed, they crap on my head and it’s just been crazy with all these flying creatures around. Of course we have birds up by the house too, and the other day we made a cool discovery. Since I took these pictures, my mom said the eggs have hatched and there are adorable little birds in the nest now.
My Exciting News
I posted on my Facebook page that I had some exciting news to share. Here it is: I’m engaged!
Just a Farmer
I found this poem in a pamphlet my father received from a hay farm and I had to share it. Anyone who understands the weight of farming will know why this is such a true poem. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. “Just a farmer,” you said, And I laughed ’cause I knew All the things that farmers Must be able to do. They must study the land, Then watch the sky And figure just when Is the right time and why- To sow and to plant To buy and to sell To… Read More
Wordless Wednesday: A Perfect Rain
My Wordless Wednesday is from this morning. More often than not the weather doesn’t cooperate with farmers. This spring we were so cold and wet, we couldn’t beg for the sun to come out! We’re finally getting the heat we need for our crops to grow and this morning we got the perfect rain we needed. We got almost an inch of rain and it came down slowly.
