So really, what do swans and diving have to do with Dairy? To many of you it may seem like nothing. But to an experienced farmer, the swan dive has everything to do with a cow calving. Just like humans, a calf has a normal birthing position. In our business, it’s called the swan dive because the head and two front feet go first in a diving position.

Confessions of a Dairy Farming Pageant Queen
To continue in the spirit I started at the end of last week. I have a few confessions to make. I confess that I have a formal dress with a cow manure stain. Every time I see the little brown stain on my favorite peach dress, I get aggravated. Not only because a nice dress has a stain, but also because the cow that gave it to me, was from my least favorite breed. I just happened to be walking through the barn to a National Jersey Queen event at the wrong time.
