Now that fall is here, it is getting dark a lot sooner. With running becoming a very popular form of fitness, we often forget that safety is something we need to teach. This summer we had this tragedy in our area, I just knew I needed to share what I know. If it can save another person’s life or it can save another driver the guilt that happened in this situation, I wanted to do it. Wear light or bright colored clothing, even better wear reflective clothing. What you wear is so important! It helps make it easier to be seen…. Read More
5 Things I Love for Fall
It’s that time of the year again. Temperatures are falling, leaves are changing and crops are being harvested. Which means it’s time for sweaters, leggings and boots. With the changing of the seasons I cannot wait to share some of my favorite things for fall. Petal Pusher Hat by Stormy KromerĀ My friend Jenny is always wearing the cutest winter hats, but I have never taken the plunge and bought one. Lucky for me she had a giveaway on Instagram and I was one of the lucky winners. I was so excited to get a free Stormy Kromer hat so… Read More
4-H Showed me the World
Growing up I always said I wanted to move to London. I have no idea where I got that idea from or why London, but I was pretty determined to make this happen. As I got older I realized I liked Michigan enough to stay for a while. But London always stayed a place I longed to visit. Growing up in a small, rural area you wonder if you will ever make these dreams happen. This is where 4-H entered the picture. My mom studiously signed us up for 4-H at the age of 5. When she signed me up,… Read More
There are No Coincidences
This past spring I took my mom to see Theresa Caputo, The Long Island Medium. For those of you that don’t know who she is, she has a show on TLC. If you have never seen her, she is an extroverted, New Jersey woman who has an amazing knack for speaking with the dead. She has huge hair, crazy nails and I want her shoe collection. If you need direction in your life, I HIGHLY recommend reading her book You Can’t Make This Stuff Up. It seems like every time I read it I find exactly what I need to… Read More
Fertilizing the Farmland
Last week on Facebook I asked readers what they wanted to learn about, when it came to the farm. One of the readers asked a very time appropriate question. She asked: Local dairy farmers are working around the clock here to spread manure. Why the rush? Wouldn’t it be easier while the sun’s shining? What a great question! There are a lot of factors that play into spreading manure and fertilizing fields. First, what we are planting. Some crops need more fertilizer than other. In my part of Michigan we plant wheat. Specifically, we plant what is called winter wheat. This… Read More

Women Bloggers, Can We Just Stop?
I have no idea what it is about ovaries, but it brings out the jealousy and cattiness in us. As a women, bloggers, a moms and/or women in agriculture, we need to stop this habit of cutting other women down when they become successful. I fully realize when we start a blog on the interwebs we open ourselves up to negativity. But it doesn’t mean when one of us become successful we need to make her pay for it. For too long other groups have done that for us, why do we need to pick up the hatchet? I know,… Read More
National Breastfeeding Awareness Month – Tips for the New Mom Wanting to Breastfeed
August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. I had the idea to write this post a long time ago but I just never got around to it. Now I decided to share it during this month because it couldn’t be anymore perfect. I nursed my daughter for 6 months before I decided to quit. I needed to have testing done and I couldn’t be nursing for it, so I said if I was still nursing at 6 months I would stop. Luckily, I was able to freeze enough to still be feeding her at least some of my milk at 8… Read More
