When I got pregnant with Calli I had just started working out and running because I decided I was going to work on my health. My pregnancy and working out didn’t really jive so I quickly realized it wasn’t worth it to push myself. Fast forward to about 2 months ago and I decided to try and get back into the groove of working out and running again. Along the way I have learned a few things. I will start by saying, I am not a fitness professional. I am not offering professional advice. I am, however, sharing the things… Read More
Down on the Farm
Some of you may feel like there hasn’t been much farm on the blog lately. It is not because I came to my senses and quit. Nope, that’s not it at all. I’m still as crazy as I was before. It’s actually because I have been guest blogging a lot. I thought I would share the fun guest posts I have been writing because it is actually a really fun series. On the Milk Means More blog they are doing a series about what Michigan cows eat. Each month I write a post about how farmers plan, plant, grow and… Read More
Wheat Harvest 2016
Last week we started wheat harvest on the farm. Wheat is a very important part of our crop rotation. You may be thinking, “What in the world is a crop rotation?” On our farm we rotate where crops are planted each year in order to keep the health of the soil high. Each crop we grow uses different amounts of nutrients and deposits different nutrients back into the soil. By rotating the crops around we are not letting the soil get out of balance. Meaning we don’t have way too much of one nutrient and not enough of another. By… Read More
Most Useful Baby Products: 3-6 Month Edition
A few months ago I did a post about the products I found most useful with our newborn. I enjoyed sharing the things I used and loved as a mom. I thought I would do a new post about it ever 3 months. Believe me, things change so quickly during this first year. So here I am writing the next installment of our favorite and most useful baby products. I have no idea how we got to have a 6 month old already. And now I sound like that cliche parent. Sophie the Giraffe When we had Calli I looked at… Read More
Slow Cooker Pork Lo Mein
This slow cooker recipe is not only easy but delicious. My husband gave it two thumbs up, ate seconds and took the leftovers to work the next day. That’s a huge win in our house. Another win is the fact that this meal was so easy! It only dirtied two dishes in the making of it. I consider that a win as well. Basically, I am saying you need to make this recipe right away. Do yourself a favor and listen to me.
6 Things I Love for Summer
Well I missed spring, so this turned into the summer edition. The problem was, when I thought of my favorite things I thought of baby related products and I figured no one needed another list of baby products since I’m going to do one for ages of 3 to 6 months soon (How did that happen?!)! Now, I have for you 6 Things I Love for Summer list. Since I missed spring, I included an extra product from my normal 5 because I really do think all of these deserve some recognition. Soma Intimates Vanishing Edge Panties Because ain’t nobody… Read More
Bean and Sausage Stew – The Year of the Pulse
The UN named 2016 the International Year of the Pulse. Anyone that knows me knows I love pulses. You might be sitting here wondering what in the world are pulses? According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (which is a part of the United Nations) pulses are any kind of dried bean and pea. Michigan is a huge producer of dry beans and my area of Michigan is a leader for several different varieties of these beans. A town not farm from my home actually hosts the Michigan Bean Festival and I may or may not have been a past… Read More
The Things you Accept as a New Parent
When you become a new parent things change. A lot of things change. You can tell yourself it won’t change that much. You are wrong. I will say, I have not lost myself to becoming a mom. Often women say they have lost their identity. Maybe that will come with having more kids, but I hope not. Regardless, I am here to share with you the things that most certainly will change after you have a baby. Baby puke will end up between your boobs. Trust me, you will find baby puke everywhere. I was at my doctors office for… Read More
